Cinnamon fallback mode

I don't know why, but sometimes in cinnamon I hit a button and it screws up my xserver files. Usually I could fix it, but I hit ctrlaltdelete and I was sent to fallback mode and my display nvidia drivers are messed up because all I have is laptop display. Help?

vexationx,

Welcome to LQ.

We really need more details.

Which is the button you refer to?

Are you able to send us a photo or "PrintScreen" pic of your laptop display?

What is the make and model of your laptop?

Is this Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon?

Welcome to LQ!

Which Linux distribution are you using? If Mint 17.3, you can go to Menu > System Settings > Driver Manager, and make sure that the recommended driver is installed. If not, install it, and that should solve your problem. Please post back with more details if that doesn't work--and post a solution, and mark this as "solved" if it does. :-)
