Changing printer URI to a file:///

I like to redirect the print output to a file for later analysis and I was able to do this in an old Fedora 9 but with the new installation of Fedora 13 or Ubuntu 10 it is not working! I always get an error when selecting a directory/filename like file:///tmp/output.prn.

How can I fix this problem?

Thank you,
\Manfred

Hi, When I print to file it's a .pdf (post script)

Not too sure about the .prn file extension, it's permissions and data.
maybe a hidden filetype(?)

Regards Glenn

When you are saying permissions what do you mean? Permissions for what file?
The filter has root permissions and I can print to a life printer but I want to analyze the print data for correctness and want to redirect it into a file. This doesn't work in Fedora 13 and Ubuntu 10 but I was able to make a file connection in Fedora 9.

Thank you,
\Manfred

Try to save it to a $USER directory,

if /tmp is best try, /home/$USER/tmp
