Changing Password and adding users

Hello
I am using Mandriva 2010.2 KDE. When I try to change my password, using the Welcome>About Me>Change Password, I am asked to type in my current password, after I press OK, the dialogue box just seems to hang, nothing happens, the computer does not freeze, just the password dialogue box kind of stops responding. Anyone knows whatś wrong?

Thanks!

Login as root and do
Code:
passwd your_user
where "your_user" is your user's login. Type in new password, repeat it.

That is unnecessary. Just use a term or stay in console and, as current user, type passwd without any arguments.

The only reason you would need to use 'passwd diff_user' with root would be if you want to change the password of a different user than the one you logged on with.

Granted, for desktop use where you have access to root, that doesn't matter. But no use wasting having to switch to root.
