Changing login screen

I've just changed from Fedora core 1 to slackware 9.1 with kde 3.1.4. In fedora I could change the login screen from within the kde control program and it had options to shutdown or reboot.

In slackware I cant change the login screen and there's no option to shutdown or rebot. How do I get these to work so that I can get rid of that flower on the login screen and shutdown without having to su to root.

I assume that you use GDM for login (from that flower). Run 'gdmconfig' as root and you can configure the behaviour of GDM. You can enable the option for shutdown, reboot from GDM.

Thanks.

I found how to allow users to shutdown.

chmod a+s /sbin/shutdown
