Unhappy CD player Help?

I am using Red Hat 8.0 and when I try to play an audio CD it loads the CD player but it doesn't play the music. However, I do know that it supports my sound card.
What do you think I should do.

Thanks.

please porovide more information, there are dozens of different cd player applciations you could be using... we're not psychic. how do you mean it "doesn't play" if you mean it DOES play but you can't hear anything, make sure you have a cd audio cable attached to the soudn card.

What application are you using?
Any errors displayed?

Does it appear to be working except for the fact that you do not here any sound? Do you hear sound when playing MP3s or wav files?

Have you check the mixer volume levels? Most CD player applications require an audio cable between the CDROM drive and the sound card. xmms is capable of digital audio extraction and does not require a cable. You will need to download the latest version.
