cant get linux to work... :(

I just installed Red Hat 8.0, but everytime i try to launch linux it stops at this command line:
apm: BIOS version 1.2 Flags 0x0b (Driver Version 1.16)
have i done something wrong, or do i have to update my BIOS (which i already did) or is it something else?

Try disabling apm in the bios or adding "noapm" to your kernel arguments in the bootloader.
