Can't figure out how to install orinoco network card

I have tried many linux websites since I'm new to linux, and i can't seem to find anything on how to install network cards that aren't exactly made for linux, I know that you are supposed to use ndiswrapper to use the windows driver as a linux driver, but I can't find a newer kernel that is required for the latest version of ndiswrapper. It's a network card that I received from a friend, but he used it on windows xp, i'm going to use it on linux redhat 9. Its a orinoco, that's all I know. I don't know the model number or anything. How would you find that out anyway?

Thanks,
Tommy

Red Hat 9 is old... way old. In my expierence the best distro for networking hardware detection is Ubuntu. Now, I am going to assume that this is a wireless network card, ndiswrapper with any newer distro should have documentation on how to install it. If you are looking for an easy way out try linuxant.com, which is a commercial solution similar to NDISwrapper, free for 30 days, one time $20 fee after that. As for the model number and such, look on the card itself, it should have some numbers stamped on there.
