cant boot after changing inittab


hi guys
i have installed x window and kde
but i dontknow how to make it to gui

then i changed the inittab from lv3 to 5, and restart
then i m stuck,
its not even getting to the rescue, but i was able to get into the menu
even the loading bar's color changes
any help T_T

i guess you change runlevel to 4 for booting into X

if you are using grub, you should be able to boot into single user mode by presing "e" on menuentry you want to boot and add "1" at the end of kernel line.

If you manage to get into shell, change default runlevel back to "3" and experiment with X by typing startx (or kdm to run KDE) on command line. It's much more painless way for debuging

thx guys, i deleted from from LANG=enUS to the end of the line and boot
then i was able to edit the inittab. now back to normal


but i am still unable to launch kde or X
any way i can verify whether i have successfully install them?

If you run startx, it should throw some errors on command line or into /var/log/Xorg.0.log (look for EE)
