Can someone please guide me through installing wine from an RPM?

Hey Guys

I have just downloaded Wine from the Wine website.

Thier instructions are like spanish to me.

Can someone put in plain english exactly what to do with it.

I ran the RPM but now what, its not on the menu, and I,ve treid varoius commands on Konsole.

"wine" gives me this message
"[sergeantroach@localhost sergeantroach]$ wine
Warning: no valid DOS drive found, check your configuration file.
Warning: could not find wine config [Drive x] entry for current working directory /home/sergeantroach; starting in windows directory.
Invalid path L"c:\\windows" for L"windows" directory: does not exist.
Perhaps you have not properly edited or created your Wine configuration file,
which is (supposed to be) '/home/sergeantroach/.wine/config'."

"winelauncher" launches Gedit with this message contained
"Warning:
The Wine launcher is unable to find the xmessage program,
which it needs to properly notify you of Wine execution status
or problems.

This launcher script relies heavily on finding this tool,
and without it, it will behave very poorly.

We strongly recommend that you use your distribution's
software methods to locate xmessage, or alternatively
use your favourite internet search engine to find out
how you are supposed to install xmessage on your system."

Can someone please please please tell me what I haven't done or what I've done wrong and how to fix it.

I'm a complete newbie so be gentle

(Mandrake 9.1

Thanks Guys

What you need to do is to edit '/home/sergeantroach/.wine/config' file (in any text editor). Please post it and write if you have a WIndows partition on this machine (if yes, please give its name like /dev/hda1) and which directories you'd like to have access to in the emulation (where you want to kepp programs etc).

Unfortunatly theres no config file there to edit.

I have windows on a seperate hard drive. (Only name I know for it is C, and its FS is NTFS)

Sorry that I cant give more informations but I've been using windows for nearly 13 years now and I'm very new to linux.
