Try, you may need to use sudo,
Code:
dmesg | tail
just after plugging it in to see if the system recognizes it...

Not all usb drives come formatted with partitions. Some are formatted as complete drives. Run
Code:
sudo fdisk -l
on it and you will see.

He already fdisk'd it. Looks like it should be sdc, but it's not showing up in the usb listing. If any partitions are on it, they should show when you plug it in. It's not showing a size, either. '[ 2064.926908] sd 3:0:0:0: [sdc] Media removed, stopped polling' doesn't look right.

Working stick for comparison

1. Don't hijack someone else's thread. That's rude! Start your own.
2. If you're a newbie, you should not be using Kali. It's a distro for professional penetration testers.
3. Some cheap flash drives don't have the volume they are advertised at.

Update: Galaxy has now opened a new thread for this problem. If anyone wants to help, I suggest they do so there and not here.

This shows that it is being recognised as /dev/sdc - so now try mounting it from the commandline.

Code:
sudo mount /dev/sdc /mnt
If it mounts to /mnt, the whole drive was formatted, if it doesn't mount, try running

Code:
sudo fdisk /dev/sdc
Press p to see what it is recognized as, it will also say what filesystem - press q to quit, without doing anything to it.

A couple of commands to see what is on the drive:
  • file -s /dev/sdc
  • lsblk -f /dev/sdc
Both need to be run as root.
