can't see my flashdisk in the virtualbox


I have recently installed virtualbox ose in my debian linux,to run windows xp but when i insert the flashdisk it not seen in the windows xp.what do i do?????

VirtualBox OSE does not have USB support. If you need USB support you might want to download their non-open source version. (Which is still free, but has a non-commercial use only license I believe.

Virtualbox OSE doesn't support USB but you can download and install Virtualbox closed source version from this link http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads and its also free. Once you install windows xp on virtual box and start it you can select your USB device from the Devices > USB Devices from running virtual machines menu. Also note that when you select your usb device it gets disconnected from your debian and will be recognized in Windows XP inside the virtual machine. If you want to use it in debian just uncheck the USB device from Device > USB Devices menu
