Is your XP box running a firewall that's droping ICMP packets?

Are you pinging the IP address or name of your XP box?

Service Pack 2 installs that idiotic firewall by default. You disabled it right?

This is strange. I don't think RedHat's default firewall disallows pings outward but hey I dont' know. I would start disabling things one by one on each machine.
