Hi, I am having trouble getting online. I have cable internet service. I even changed my network card. I also reconfigured netconfig...again and still no canndo..does anyone have any tips or info on how to go about this problem

steps to try to fix this

first off, in the console, type in "neat" and make sure eth0 is active, if its not, press activate

next, go over to the DNS tab and make sure you have a primary DNS, if not, open up mozilla and type in
http://216.239.41.99
if you see google, you will need to get your DNS information from windows

if it doesnt load google,
go to a terminal, and as root, run

ifconfig

if the readout for eth0 says
inetaddr: ##.##.##.##

and it says actual numbers, you are on the internet, if it doesnt, check to see if your nic card is even supported by linux

For about two weeks now I have been struggling with my linux box just trying to get on the net, finally after two weeks and a few posts I did it..Thanks for those who helped.!! now a have a slew of other problems to deal with but hey Rome was not built in a day yanno...thanks.!!
