Post BUSYBOX error in ubuntu 8.10


hai every1 i am new to linux.so i downloaded ubuntu 8.10 and burned it.
when i boot from ubuntu live cd it went to
busybox(ash)initramfs something like that.ihav googgled for this error and got ans like change sata to raid etc etc.but i dont see anything like that in my bios.my system config is
intel D101 motherboard
512MB DDR1
80GB PATA hdd
nvdia 6200 graphics card
and am using winXPsp2 nw.i want a dual boot
plz help me i want to try linux.plz note that while replying that i am beginner to linux.thanx in advance

Just a guess on my part, but I've done the same thing. Unless you have a combination CD/DVD drive, you need to always boot from the CD. I wish I could explain why but my system locks up when I try to boot a CD from the DVD.
