Burning CDs problems

Hi.
when i try to make an .iso file from an audio CD an error message says Input/output error.
The same if i click over CD icon to listen to an audio CD it says CDrom damaged or too much file-system mounted.
Everything works if i run a cdplayer.
Everything is ok also if i burn data CDs using the same istructions i used for audio CDs (dd and cdrecord). Why?
Thank you for any help.
Franco.

You have to rip it. Try cdparanoia and/or one of it's numerous frontends (eg grip)
