bit torrent client ubuntu netbook edition urlopen error [Errno 111]

I'm new to ubuntu and trying to use bit torrent, while installing there was an error message, but the program was still shown as installed. When I tried to use it i got this error "urlopen error [Errno 111]" any ideas?

The urlopen method is form the Python urllib library. From what I can tell on Google, generally "errno 111" means connection refused. So either there's a wrong hostname specified somewhere or maybe a bad firewall rule is in the way. You may also try being more specific in the error. When exactly does this error present itself and in what context?

'Problem connecting to tracker
urlopen error [Errno 111] Connection refused'
is exactly what the error window says and it appears right when I try to open a file in bittorrent. as far as i know there is no firewall on this computer

also when i first installed bittorrent this message came up
'InstallArchives() failed: Selecting previously deselected package bittornado.'

Try testing out urllib to make sure it's working:
Code:
python
>>> import urllib
>>> r = urllib.urlopen('http://www.google.com')
>>> r.read()
You should see a bunch of HTML code scroll by. If not then post the output here. If you do see the HTML code though then you'll know that urllib is working and that error is a red herring.

perhaps try a different bittorrent client like vuze or uTorrent?
also try fishing the url of the bittorrent tracker and connecting to it outside of the bittorrent client, perhaps the tracker is defunct or for some reason down? maybe the torrent seed file is bad?

Yeah is it doing this with torrents form a variety of trackers? Either way it should be handling this error a little more gracefully than this.
