Arrow Best distro for old laptop


I've got an old laptop for free and I would like to install linux on it. Which distro would you recommend .

Laptop specs

P1 233 MMX
24 MB ram
2 Gig HDD
Bootable CDROM
800x600 LCD
.....

P.S would like to work in a GUI.

Hi,

Have a look at vectorlinux, and the requirements, here :

But really 24 Mo is very very little memory ... maybe you can add some.

Got vectorlinux but dont know how to configure lcd screen.

get error :
no screens found

when trying to go into X

ie : I don't know as what screen to install it using xf86config.



what now??

Hi,

I dont know. I dont use it. This is an X configuration problem. Try to use a default screen, as VGA screen.

Please try also the vectorlinux forum, as it is more specific now,

I've got Vector Linux to work but it was slooooo!!! So I tried Redhat 6.2 and it worked much better
