Cool been wrecking HDD for 10 years. Now making even new systems linux. Its taken me 15 years to see the light.

just need to access the man pages. I've learned that Samsung new monitors have no driver that works.
So, will use an old monitor.

I need to learn how to put Debian on a scan disc card. I have a laptop
that I've totally screwed up with Debian.

Its now 36 degrees outside. I hate the Midwest.

Sorry, but is there some point to this thread?? The subject and message itself are very disconnected, and none of it makes sense. "Wrecking HDD"? A monitor 'driver'?? Man pages? What exactly is a "scan disc card"?? What Laptop? And what on earth does the weather in the midwest have to do with anything???

No such thing as a monitor driver. Troll or spam post I am guessing.

*Anymore. Most definitely had monitor drivers once upon a day, 25+ years ago.

Good to know, I can’t remember those but I’ve only been using Linux for around 20 years. I can’t remember installing a driver but that doesn’t mean I didn’t. That was a long time ago

By the time you were using it, most of them probably would have been gone. Some of the earliest color monitors actually implemented their own proprietary "standards", and so would function as like 640x480 with "basic" drivers, but actually required monitor drivers to work at 800x600 or some could even do 1024x768. By the time VGA became the norm, it supported these resolutions standard so needing monitor drivers was essentially unheard of after that.

The amount of actual questions appears to have tapered off quite drastically this year.

I remember installing fglrx drivers many years ago, it was a terrible experience. I don't like non-kernel drivers.. And proprietary drivers, terrible, just awful stuff.

Cool I bought a new samsung monitor for an old tower that had win10 pro

when I installed different distro. The one I wanted was Debian. The screen kept flickering constantly. I put up with this for 3 weeks.

Then in real life when I had time. I couldn't find anything on Samsung site to help this stop. AND somewhere I realized that I just needed to go through the office closet, and find an old monitor. THAT did the trick.

So now I'm just thinking about what sale item after Christmass to find some cheap small tower, and find a distro that will work with this Monitor. It seems a waste to use it with windows 10 home or pro.

this was a post that I had no idea would be posted. I was sure it vanished. Getting around this site is a bit different for me.

Thanks for reading my streaming thoughts.

This makes slightly more sense than your frst post, but I still don't see an actual question here.

FWIW, I never heard of a monitor not working with GNU/Linux. GPUs, drivers, various plugs and cables, yes, but monitors? Only when the hardware is screwed.

Monitors is "plug'n'play" technology. Don't know one that isn't plug'n'play compatible, but they might exist..

Thanks, I have a mint dvd around, not sure if it’s the latest version. I’ll try that when I get a cheap dell after the Christmas
Rush. And use this monitor.

Thanks to all of you.

Not sure why you found this forum difficult, I myself found it very easy to use, perhaps you could explain what you found difficult and it could be improved. maybe you have a few ideas on how to improve it.
