Backup onto NAS drive

I am very new to Linux, using 17.2 Mint Rafaela.
I have a WD NAS drive on my network, which I use to share data between Windows 10, Apple OSX & Linux. I also take backups of Windows & Apple Time Machine onto the NAS, but have failed with Linux. The standard backup tool available through the menu system does not allow access to the network.
Should I be using a specific add-on application downloaded via the Software Manager, and if so, which? ... Or are Terminal commands the answer?

You would need to mount the samba share to be able to backup to it.

Just had a quick squirrel about on t'Internet, I've no idea if this will help but it might be worth a look... You haven't mentioned WD ShareSpace so I don't know if it's applicable.

Play Bonny!
