backtrack freezee


help me please
i don't know what should i do because i have been install backtrack 5r3 four time but when instalation complete and i typing startx on terminal just appeared blank screen black but it does not allow me to enter any key or click on anything. Does any one have a solution to this issue?
I have a class and I need to have backtrack up and running in my system, I would appreciate any efforts, thank you!
my laptop thosiba c640d dualcore VGA ATI9806
