BackTrack cannot change permissions

Hi, I'm trying to change a file type in the System32 Folder on SDA3 (Windows partition).

However, I don't have the permission. If I try to change the permissions, it says I can't.

Could someone please help, step by step what I have to do? I understand mounting it in some certain way helps, but I have no idea.

Thanks.

what do you mean change the file type?? what type? You can't change permissions on a windows filesystem, as there aren't any. Any unix permissions are just fudged on mount time to make it look more like a unix FS, but it's not actually on the filesystem itself.

Having reading your another post, I assumed you want to change file extension under Windows/System folder. In Backtrack or Slax I guess some partitions are mounted read-only.
