ati installation, please help


i have ati 9600 pro and fedora 1.92 with kernel 2.6.X

when i try do install with force, to overwrite the basic open gl of fedora
[root@dhcp-137-2 Desktop]# rpm -Uv --force fglrx-4.3.0-3.7.6.i386.rpm
Preparing packages for installation...
error: setexeccon(root:staff_r:rpm_script_t) fails from context "root:staff_r:staff_t": Invalid argument
error: %pre(fglrx-4.3.0-3.7.6) scriptlet failed, exit status 255
error: install: %pre scriptlet failed (2), skipping fglrx-4.3.0-3.7.6


ideas?

I had that same problem it was because of my kernel! I could never get my Radeon 9600 to work on it even when i installed my 2.6.5 kernel, better off with RedHatLinux9, it worked out of the box with its stock for me. But check first to see if your kernel is symlinked, that was my problem but i didnt know of it untill after i reinstalled RH9. So cd /usr/src/ "ls -s kernel-source-x.x.x linux" hope this helps!

in that folder i only have one folder named "redhat"

Then you need to install your kernel sources for your currently running kernel before you try again. You should be able to find them on the fedora repository (or even on your install cds). You need to have the kernel sources linked to /usr/src/linux (/linux will link to /usr/src/kernel-source-2.x.whatever), and this link should automatically be created in /usr/src when you install the kernel-source RPM.
