arp cache not showing anything


when i type arp -n it shows nothing
if i type arp -v
it shows
skipped :0 found :0
I want to look at my ip and mac addresses in arp cache
if i change my ethernet ip address it is not reflected or stored in the cache.
Please help

The arp cache remains valid for 30 seconds. You just need to
be quick after your network activities ;}

Ping your router/server/neighbour & then arp.

ping -c 3 -t 5 <router> && arp -v

Your mac and ip aren't stored in arp cache, so you can't check them there. Use ip address show or ifconfig -a.

But when i do a arp -n under cygwin in windows.It shows the IP address of the different hosts of the machine can someone explain this please?

Yes..you're using Windows, not Linux.
