Question Application software

Iam facing problem for Mandrake Linux9 Manual partition. For partition i use Expert and made following partitions.

/dev/hda1 1.1Gb /Root
/dev/hda6 86Mb /Boot
/dev/hda8 481Mb /Home
/dev/hda7 164Mb /user

the problem is durning installation it does't ask for the install software pacakges.Instead it,it shows the following dialog box

---------------------------------------------------------------------
"You have't selected any group of pacages.
Please choose the minimal installion you want."

----withX

Yes Cancle

------------------------------------------------------------------------

If i select Withx and click "yes" button linux starts installation which ends
with 4 minutes. The sysetm reboots and start Unix only and ask login name and password.

Plz let me know that why Linux does't show me the page of available softwares like office,Firewalls, etc etc.

On the other hand if i choose auto installation ,Linux shows me the available
softwares and i can choose softwares which i want to install.

Inshort with manual partition linux, skip the available pacakes dialog box.
Plz guide me that how can i see KDE as well .
Thanks in advance.

Not much disk space for the install and /usr partition is probably not big enough. I would go with:
/boot - 100 mb
/swap 512mb
/ - everything else
