Application not finding Xserver

I am running Kanotix from HD. I am using KDE desktop, and am able to get the Xserver running locally since KDE is running fine.

I am having a problem attempting to run SPICE Opus. This software is supposed to open a Xserver window. When I start the program up, either in a console or via a tty session I get an error. In the tty session the error message is "cannot connect to X server"

In the configuration file I see the following environment variable being set

# For "rspice", the server name
# SPICE_HOST=localhost
# export SPICE_HOST

Since I have an Xserver running why is not the application running? Do I have to change SPICE_HOST to something other then localhost?

If that is the exact contents of the file then I believe you should remove the # symbols. Normally a # symbol is a remmed statement meaning it is not active. I would unrem the last two items. The first one is just text.
