Apache Installation Issues

Having some problems installing Apache on MDK Linux...I get the error

checking build system type... config.sub: missing argument
Try `config.sub --help' for more information.
configure: error: /bin/sh build/config.sub failed
./apache_install: line 5: --enable-module=so: command not found
make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.
make: *** No rule to make target `install'. Stop.

when I type ./apache_install

First off, any suggestions?
Second, any good online guides to installing apache that could help me out? I used the PHPFreaks one, but obviously had some issues with that

For one thing, it uses Pico to edit the conf files, but I am not sure it is on my mdk linux, so, bummer.

I thought Mandrake ships with Apache support out of the box.

The least painful way would be by using Mandrake's RPMs I guess.

Yah, werd...I tried that, and I am definetly doing something wrong, like, maybe not doing the whole RPM thing right.

You can tell im a super n00b with linux in general, I have been reading a lot , but haven't found so much out. Mostly just been learning from playing around with it myself.

I install apache from the packages list, and it says it under the installed packages, yet I am not sure how to access conf files, how to set it up, etc...

Help is, as always, appreciated.
