ALT + CONTROL + F2,F3,.... on Virtual Machine in macOS
Hi,
I have a RHEL installed in a virtual machine using VMware Fusion on macOS.
I'm in the beginning and trying to open the tty (virtual terminal).
I press alt + control + f2 on my Mac keyboard but nothing happens.
On my computer the function key is controlled in the Bios to either have it as F#, or whatever function icon is there. Maybe try Ctrl+Alt+Fn+f2?
Otherwise I'd think we* need to know more about VMware Fusion? For example in Virtualbox we can capture the keyboard to the VM or use it to create key combination inserts to the VM... most of my searches pop up with "control alt delete" obviously more common but if you're not capturing the keyboard to VMware it stays in MacOS?
Try booting to multi-user.target by appending a 3 to the end of the linu line after striking the E key at the Grub menu. When you boot that way, can you switch vttys?
Are you using a wireless Mac keyboard? If yes, are the batteries excellent?
Do you actually want to switch to a virtual terminal or just start a terminal window application? If just a terminal window then look in the system tools menu for the terminal icon. Click that to start a terminal window.
