Question ALSA installation on RHEL WS 3

Hi,

I'm running RHEL WS release 3 (Taroon) on kernel 2.4.21-4.EL

I successfully compiled and installed ALSA (from alsa-project.org):
# driver

bzcat alsa-driver-*.tar.bz2 |tar xvf -
cd alsa-driver-1.0.6rc2
./configure --with-cards=intel8x0 --with-sequencer=yes
make
make install

# libraries

bzcat alsa-lib-*.tar.bz2 |tar xvf -
cd alsa-lib-1.0.6rc1
./configure
make
make install

# utilities

bzcat alsa-utils-*.tar.bz2 |tar xvf -
cd alsa-utils-1.0.6rc1
./configure
make
make install

When I try to install the module on the kernel,
modprobe -v snd-intel8x0

I get:

/sbin/insmod /lib/modules/2.4.21-4.EL/kernel/sound/acore/snd.o
Using /lib/modules/2.4.21-4.EL/kernel/sound/acore/snd.o

Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.

You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg

# delete snd

Any help will be appreciated.

I try to install ALSA because my sond card is not recognized:
In /etc/sysconfig/hwconf I have:

class: AUDIO
bus: PCI
