Akonadi is the glue for PIM (Personal Information Manager) applications. It keeps your contacts synced between the applications that store/use contact information. Like KMail, Kontact. If you installed a KDE application, Akonadi probably got installed as a dependency.

I'm having trouble running KMAIL and KONTACT on a Gnome desktop (Ubuntu v10.04). I used synaptic to install these applications and all of the dependencies.

Is there more that I need to do or should have done so that I might use Kmail and Kontact from a Gnome desktop?

NOTE -- I have a separate thread that posts log files and error messages from my troubled attempts to use these applications. (Sorry, but I've never mastered linking among threads on this forum site.)

Cheers,
~~~ 0;-Dan
