Add User Permission to Directory

Hi

I logged via Shell as root (su -) and created a folder.
I want to give another user permission to be able to modify the folder name.

In Windows we can do Right Click > Security > Add User
Whats the linux shell equivalent to that ?

Use <chmod -R 777 /folder>. Keep in mind about the numbers, like here it is RWX for all the users and groups. You can give permissions only to users or only to certain groups by using certain options. For more details, use the man pages.

Is it not possible to specify permission to a specific user ?

Yes it is possible. Type <man chmod>
