Active directory and SAMBA


HI All
i am new to linux .i added my linux machine (centos 5) to active directory domain.and able to access share with domain credentials.
more over am able to inherit acl permission on any folders in / .But not able to inherit permission on a hard dive mounted .ie

df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol00
44G 38G 3.3G 93% /
/dev/sda1 99M 24M 70M 26% /boot
tmpfs 997M 0 997M 0% /dev/shm
/dev/sda2 99G 28G 67G 30% /var/www/html/public

able to inherit prmission on / but not on /var/www/html/public from windows.

I think you're asking the wrong question. Samba will have no idea whatsoever what files are located where. It will not discriminate between files on one partition compared to another. There may be examples of different filesystem types affecting what can be done to those files (.e.g fat32 being too limited to deal with much complexity of permissions) but Samba will not be paying attention to your choice of partitions layout.

/var/www/html/public this folder is mounted with /dev/sda2 is there any procedure to make that drive to inherit acl

Again, it won't be about the drive.

yup fixed it i need to set acl permission on the new mounted hard drive.Now its working fine
