accessing Ubuntu formatted hd from Win 7

Hi,

I would like to access data on an Ubuntu formatted external hd drive, which shows up in my windows 7 os but I can't open it.

Is there, for instance, any MS sw that will solve this?

Thanks

Alternatively you could put VMware Player on your windows PC and install a local Ubuntu that will run up in a window.

If you have other types of filesystems, it may not be possible without a complex setup like a virtual machine.
