XP sp2 and Samba on RH9

Ok this may be more of a Windows questions but I must ask,

So I am a total mule and upgraded from sp1 to sp2 on my Windoxs XP Box just moments ago. Up until that point I had samba working mint on both ends and had everything working perfectly.

Now I am getting the following error when trying to access the share on my Linux Box "\\blah\share is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource" blah blah blah. I cannot access the XP box from Linux either, but I can ping both IP's on my LAN.

As stated earlier, it has something to do with recent sp2 install, does anyone have any advice?

Thanks,

Win XP sp2 has a revamped personal firewall. Just clicky start ---> control pannel ---> windows firewall.

From there it's just reading and clicking.

Or you could just disable the thing. Your call.

If I have iptables running, do I need to make an entry to that file in order for samba to run properly?

Perhaps your user/passwd on the windoze is messed up. Try to give the user a new passwd and do the same on sambaserver and lindoze. Remember that the user/passwd pairs must be equal all three places

Hi,

I have the exact same problem. I've installed WinXP SP2 and can no longer access my samba shares.

Firewalls are disabled on both machines.

The shares were working fine before hand.

I'm assuming that this is something to do with authentication but I'm really not sure what.

Have you had any success in solving your problems?

Thanks,

Andrew

Try resetting the passwords on all machines. Make sure the user names/passwords match.
