Hi, I'm trying to setup an X11 tunnel using ssh on my server. My problem is that X crashes and I have no idea how to configure it correctly. Here is what I have done so far
1. ran 'apt-get install kde'
2. ran 'apt-get install x-window-system-core'
3. it then asked me to configure it, so I just stuck with the default values because I had no idea what to put.
4. I then ran startx as root and I get the following:
Quote:
Using authority file /root/.Xauthority
Writing authority file /root/.Xauthority
Using authority file /root/.Xauthority
Writing authority file /root/.Xauthority
X: warning; process set to priority -11 instead of requested priority -10

Obviously the mouse and 'core devices' aren't configured properly. Do I need to use special options to enable remote tunneling, because I am guessing the physical hardware on the server (such as the mouse, and grphx card) have nothing to do with this? Could someone post their config file that has been able to tunnel X11? I'm guessing I don't need to post mine since it is the default.
Here is some info about the server:
everything is being installed from ssh
it is running debian stable 3.1
the server doesn't have a mouse or keyboard plugged into it
the graphics card is one built into the motherboard (it has no moniter so i don't think the graphics card really matters).
Anyways any help is appreciated. I have no idea what I'm doing and don't have much experience installing and configuring X or kde. All I want is to use kde remotely through ssh.
Thanks in advance
