Why does "nmbd" takes 99% CPU

our development server serves as a Samba server. Since yesterday, one of the Samba daeman nmbd constantly takes very high CPU usage, while all the responses to that server slows down! This already caused negotive impact to our development now. Could anyone give some explanation and solution? Thanks a lot!!!

I am attaching some of the output here.

---------------------
[root@l5mlnx18 root]# rpm -q samba
samba-2.2.1a-4

[root@l5mlnx18 root]# service smb status
smbd (pid 12389 12328 10930 8407 8378 3780 29165 12669 18582 3892 1106) is running...
nmbd (pid 1111) is running...
[root@l5mlnx18 root]#

[root@l5mlnx18 root]# cat /etc/resolv.conf
nameserver 127.0.0.1
