What is a simple Web Proxy I can use with SuSE 8.2

I have a network of 2 computers, the main computer is connected to the internet and has 2 NIC's, the other computer is connected to the main machine from it's NIC through a crossover cable. I have SuSE 8.2 installed on the main computer dual booting with Windows XP. In Windows XP I have a simple proxy server installed that shares the internet to the other computer. Can someone please recommened me a simple proxy that I can run in SuSE that's very easy to setup and has the newbie in mind in it's instructions? I've tried installing Squid, and have successfully ./configure'd, and make installed'd it (had to su for install) but I am getting permission errors when it tries to setup it's initial cache (squid -z) and I don't know how to give it the proper permissions yet. Squid seems like an overkill to me, if you know of a simpler proxy please tell me about it!
Thank you.
