ok i am using samba to print from windows clients to samba shared printer.
i am using cups.

i can see the printer and the even the print goes out but it is all junk characters.

i have figured out that i have to use raw printing with all the rendering stuff being done on the client side.

ok now what i wan to ask is that.

the command for installing cups printer is


lpadmin -p DotMatri -E -v parallel:/dev/lp0 -m deskjet.ppd

so if i wan to raw printing what should be the name of the ppd file.

i have a dot matrix and i havent found the ppd file for my printer it is a seiko BP 6000 printer. so what exactly should be the ppd file in case of raw printing.

I edit the following files to enable Windows printing to my Linux printer. Maybe it will help your situation also.

Remove the hash mark ( # ) to enable that feature.

/etc/cups/mime.convs
application/octet-stream application/vnd.cups-raw 0 -

Also uncomment the following line from this file....

/etc/cups/mime.types:
application/octet-stream

Don't forget to restart cups with the command: service cups restart
