UT300 ADSL modem/router not recognized by REDHAT LINUX

hi everybody,

I have just installed a RHEnterorise Linux v4 yesterday as a server. I now need to configure it for internet connectivity

I have 1 NIC CARD and 2 onboard NICs in the system.

I have connected the NIC CARD to a UT300 R32U UTSTARCOM adsl modem directly. One of the onboard nic goes to a switch which in turn connects to the LOCAL OFFICE LAN.

the problem is, the I am not getting the internet connectivity though earlier i used to get it with the same setup in XP machine.

Do I need to do some additional configuration ? Would be glad to anybody who replies for it, me being a newbie to LINUX and this forum

We have taken a BSNL broadband connection with static ip facility. But the people in bsnl are not able to clearly explain how the same is to be utilised

If the server is set to connect to the network via DHCP then it should work. It's not possible to not "recognise" a router over an ethernet network. You probably don't actually want to use DHCP for a server, as you would want the IP address to be constant and under your control, in which case you would manually enter the details you want via the system-config-network tool.
