Using mii-tool To Force Full Duplex Crashed My Server

Hi, I tried to force a linux server full duplex by using the below command:
/sbin/mii-tool --force=100baseTx-FD
I have done this before with success. The last server I did this on I killed the network connection by doing this. The Administator doesn't know how to fix this and is telling me he has to reformat the machine. Is there any way to fix this without reformatting the machine?
Thanks so much in advance,
Brian

Welcome to LQ.

Try:
mii-tool -R

Or reset it to 10baseT-HD:
mii-tool -F 10baseT-HD
mii-tool -A 10baseT-HD

and all i can say is why in the heck would you have to do a re-format for something as simple as that?

Plus formatting a linux box can be a bit aggravating ...

A) doesn't know how google works
B) doesn't know how great places like this work
