using applications without proxy support

I connect to the net through a local proxy, as you know this causes problems for applications without support for proxy. To overcome this under windows i use a an application called SocksCap (http://www.socks.permeo.com/ ). This as far as i can tell encapsulates TCP frame within a UDP SOCKS frame (i think).

what i need to know is there an equivalent for SuSE Linux??? cheers
