Question Understanding netstat TCP Port

Dear all,
I have an application that uses port 8080 all the time. One time, for some reason, it was taken by I didn't know what. When I did nestat it said:
Code:
root@firefly:~# netstat -a |grep 8080
tcp6       0      0 [::]:8080               [::]:*                  LISTEN
What did it mean? How can I deallocate that particular port?

Best regards,
ethereal1m

The out put refer the port 8080 still in listening mode, if you need to check with which application netstat -pnl and just stop the application if you need to unbind the port
