Red face Ubuntu Server(18.04.2) not pinging

Just finished server installation, but cannot ping the server from anywhere else.

I have also install open-ssl server, I can telnet localhost on port 22 on the server and works fine, but from the client, I cannot connect to the server, using putty

icmp may have been blocked by default firewall configurations, which i don't know to work with it

surprisingly, arp tabled shows each other Mac address. the server and the client.

It looks like firewall policy related

Can you please help?

This was Installed on workstation vm

Are you using this for study? I assume a new Linux user?

So, this is a guest within a host OS environment...which VM? Are you using bridged networking or NAT for the VM?

BTW, here's a firewall "how to" you might find helpful....

Hello Ferrari,

Thanks for getting back so soon, yes assumptions were right, for study and devlab, new user, bridge network, and VMware Workstation 15 player.

Any questions and the results of the solution, I will provide an update.

Many thanks
