Trying to set up an server...


I'm trying to set up an server at home, without luck

Is there any tutorials on how to set up RedHat 7.2 as an server and configure it as an server with apache ftp etc? Because I can't even get my network car to work.....

First you must to understand is that a server is just a box (any box) which "serves" a service (http, ftp, dns, ...).

There's no a special OS for doing server (as Microsoft uses ...).

So, you can install a software on your linux box to allow the service you choose (Some examples: Apache, Netscape, ... for http / ProFTFd, WU-ftpd, ... for ftp / Bind, djDNS, ... ).

Look for "how-to" on the net. You'll find documentation about almost anything you want with linux.

Thanks for your reply.

I know that a server is just a machine running ftp, http etc progs.
I have been working alot with MySQL PHP Apache JavaScript on windoze, but I have no idea how to configure my network car in linux....
