Traffic on Eth0 - where is it originating

Greets,

Recently, I have noticed an increase on traffic on my eth0 interface.

This is shown with 2 example Cacti graphs: http://iball.id.au/?q=node/20. Note the steady traffic at about 10kbps, and also that it only started in about week 27.

I know 10kbps is not a huge amount of traffic, but I would like to know (if possible) where the traffic is coming from. From the graphs it seems that inbound and outbound are about the same, so maybe a continuous ping?

I have ICMP ping packets blocked by my firewall.

I basically would just like to know what is causing the traffic, and also if it is anything to be concerned about.

Thanks in advance

I would suggest using tcpdump or possibly iptraf to see what the traffic is.
