Testbeds for Wireless Sensor Network

My supervisor told me to use a test bed for WSN. in which one wireless device and one sensor node include. PICkit 3 is a circuit debugger,
1. can i use PICkit 3 programmer (as MATLAB, Omnet++) for simulation.

It depends on the resolution you want. PICs, IIRC, are 8 bit Microcontrollers. There may be 16/32 bit now, but it's normally 8 Bit. If it's 8 bit, that's 0-255 on the A/D which is not exact (~4mv steps for a 0-1V signal). A 16bit A/D gives 65536 steps, (~15.25x10^-6V for a 0-1V signal). You're into picovolts for a 32bit(~233 picovolts).

The datasheet has exact curves. Why not use them? BTW, if you're writing the datasheet, you need much more resolution, expensive kit. And proper test circuitry.

What's your test plan? Some simulation tool can support it, such as NS.

this is energy harvesting research.

Er, no thank you, I won't read a 1.3MB pdf to find information you should have given us. If you're in energy harvesting, what I said about signals is moot.

Look at the input voltage range. If the PIC has a 0-5 range, and you're in nanowatts or picowatts, the smallest step for any normal A/D is pretty useless. Come back with voltage & current of expected output & input, and impedance. It may be better to contract this job out. You're going to need expensive equipment sensitively applied to get accurate figures.

The document, wp-conte...Manual-A-7.pdf, already picked PICkit 3 as development tool. You don't have choice and have to use PICkit 3.
