Stumped by SLOW transfer speed

Hi all,

I have this setup with 4 systems on RedHat 7.1 connected together in LAN. I just found that when I tried to transfer a file from 1 system to another, it's transferring at only around 200KBps.

I've check the network settings on all 4 systems using mii-tool. All showed that it's running 100Mbps full duplex. I've tried swapping the network cables too but no luck. I've also verified that the switch is working fine by connecting 2 separate systems to the network and do a file transfer. This leaves the problem to only the systems itself, but I've no idea where else to look for any bandwidth limitation or cap. I've checked the processes on all 4 systems and I've nothing running in the background that might possibly flood the network.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where else I can search to troubleshoot?

It might help is you told us what method you have set up for transfers (nfs, samba, etc). Make certain that it is a switch and not just a hub (they are very different beasts internally).

Oops, my bad. I tried transferring using rcp, scp, ftp and nfs. All slow.

But in any case, I kinda just solved it. I resetted MII to it's default configuration by running mii-tool -R and everything is back to normal. There's a script that runs "mii-tool -F eth0 100baseTx-FD" on boot for all the systems. Not sure if that's causing the problem, but at least it works now. I'll go and do some more testing on my own first and will update again. Thanks.
