Stop MRTG cron! Flooded with e-mail since HW upgrade!

I have searched and searched for help and I seem to have tried everything except the solution. I've got 2 versions of mrtg installed at 15 locations. Version 2.9.17 was installed to run from crontab. I have stopped all monitoring and e-mails from those locations.

However, 2.9.29 doesn't seemed to be installed in crontab.
I have traced mrtg all over my servers...
/etc/mrtg/mrtg.cfg = which is where the HW config files are located
/etc/cron.d/mrtg = which is where the one liner (cron config file is ?)
/usr/local/mrtg = which is where the pl scripts and some log files live
/usr/bin/mrtg = which is where the actual config is, right?

I have killed processes, commented out lines, tried to search for daemons, etc. I have tried all the help listed on this site and googled til I can google no more.

Please help!

I want to stop mrtg, thus stopping all e-mails from flooding my inbox. I have temporarily stopped sendmail to prevent the flooding til I find a solution to stop mrtg.

Any and all suggestions will be graciously accepted.

Thx in advance

On my system, I moved /etc/cron.d/mrtg to my home directory. This stopped mrtg from being run every 5 minutes via cron.

Do you get any e-mail errors about it not finding configs or other files? I am also concerned about it writing to log files that never end and eat up disk space.

Of course, if this works - it'd be too easy.

This is the story of my life, though.

MRTG fix - stop MRTG and stop e-mails from flooding inbox.

Moving it didn't seem to work.

It was already stopped, though.
I just had old e-mails that had to flush thru the system.
On MRTG 2.9.17 you comment out the run line with crontab -e
On MRTG 2.9.29 you comment out the run line in /etc/cron.d/mrtg
Then of course, you restart with service crond restart

Good Luck and hope this helps somebody.
