static ip address in suse 10.0


hi all,
i have a problem when i configre an IP address in my system. i used the ifconfig but its eraced when i reboot, then i tried configuring the file named; /etc/sysconfig/network/scripts/ifcfg-eth0. but still its not working please help.

You can configure the network device using YaST. The configuration for the device is stored in /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-<device>. I hope you didn't muck up your original scripts.

SuSE has scripts beginning with "rc" that you can use to restart services. For example "sudo /sbin/rcnetwork restart eth0".

Open up the SuSE Help Center. The "reference (en)" manual covers setting up the network starting on chapter 18.
