ssh refused to connect

Hi all i want to connect via ssh from a windows box to a linux box(yoper).When i try it i can't and when i try from yoper to connect on it(i establish an Ethernet connection between the two PCs with static ip addresses) i get that:

ssh: connect to host xxx.xxx.x.x port 22: Connection refused

What can i do?
Is it possible to establish a ssh connection between the two PCs?

Well, we need more info.

Is the sshd running? Try a ps -ax | grep -i sshd. If you just see the

pts/0    R      0:00 grep -i sshd

, it's simple. ssh daemon is not running.
If you can see the sshd, the problem is somewhere else. Can you ping the linux box?
Also, what program are you using in order to connect at the linux box?

Thanks i start the sshd from /usr/sbin/sshd and i connected to the linux box.In windows i use a little client ssh.exe which i have from the university i go.Give your email to send it to you if you want it.
