Question SSH Keybased authentication for "root" user on linux.

Hello,
I have a question regarding SSH key based authetication on Linux machine.

I am on windows machine with user "adastane".
Can I able to login to linux box using "root" user?

If yes then how ahould I create a setup for that?

I know how to connect to linux box using "adastane" as user with ssh keybased authentication.

Thanks in advance for any help .

With Regards,
Aditya.

It would be better to simply use su and sudo after logging in with your regular account. You shouldn't allow root logins unless you are using automation. Look in the sshd_config manpage. There is an option whether to allow root logins. Again, I would recommend against it. It is a known username, and the main one that hackers will try to get into.

Setting up keybased authentication has been discussed on this site often and the answer is also in the ssh_config and sshd_config manpages.

Exclamation Need the keybased ssh authentication setup done for root user.

Thanks a lot jschiwal .

But I am doing some POC and for that I need the keybased ssh authentication setup done for root user.
I know how to do setup for nonroot user.

So I need steps how to do that.

With Regards,
